NBC has a new reality show with a focus on work. The show is called “America’s Toughest Jobs,” and it debuts on Monday, August 25th. We will chat about the show after the first episode airs, but I thought I’d share this preview with you.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics released its monthly summary of job data for July 2008.
Among the most notable items in the report:
Unemployment rose from 5.5% in June to 5.7% in July.
There were 51,000 fewer jobs in July. Total job loss for 2008 so far is 463,000. That is an average of 66,000 jobs lost per [...]

I think it was the movie “Office Space” that featured a worker who blamed the foul moods of others on a “case of the Mondays”. Maybe those workers would have been less grumpy if they just added a little ‘flair‘ to their uniforms?

Back in 1950, blue-collar industrial and agricultural jobs were prevalent, with a smattering of secretarial work thrown in for women who worked outside of the home.
